WHISKY LOVER & ENTHUSIAST

Hi there! I'm Z, a fellow whisky enthusiast from Hungary.🇭🇺 I've been on this incredible whisky journey for the past four years and have had the pleasure of tasting over 950 whiskies from around the globe — from Scotch and Irish expressions to Bourbons and a wide variety of world whiskies.

This page is where I share my thoughts and reviews on the drams I try. I hope you find them enjoyable and maybe even discover something new along the way!

Some of my favourite distilleries include ✅Ardnamurchan, Bowmore, Bushmills, Glenfarclas, Highland Park, Kavalan, Macallan, and Teeling ✅.

Lately, I've been exploring single malts from lesser-known regions, and I'm genuinely excited about what many countries have to offer. Taiwan continues to impress me, but I've also found excellent single malts from Romania, France, and Germany. I enjoy Bourbons and Tennessee whiskies too — especially those with a higher rye content, though I also appreciate a well-crafted wheated bourbon.

When it comes to cask maturation, Port and Bourbon casks are my top picks, followed closely by various wine casks like Sherry. That said, I've grown a bit wary of many Sherry-matured whiskies lately — too often they overpower the spirit and turn into overly acidic "sherry bombs," which I really don't enjoy. I'm also not a fan of most sherry-seasoned cask whiskies, with the exception of those from Edrington (Macallan, Highland Park, Glenrothes), who I think are the only ones that get it right for now.

RATINGS:

⏺95-100: Dram of a lifetime. Outstanding. ▶️ 90-95: A very well made, exceptional whisky. ▶️ 80-90: It's worth the money and it's worth to try. (It doesn't mean I'd buy a bottle tho.) ▶️ 70-80: 3.6, not great not terrible. ▶️ 60-70: I wouldn't pay for it. ▶️ 0-60: Avoid it at all costs!⏺
